EasyMusic enters UK music download frame

New site to bring low prices and unsigned artists into the mix

EasyJet owners the EasyGroup has entered the digital music business in tandem with UK operator, Wippit.

The partners aim to launch the easyMusic.com service in time for Christmas. The operation will consist of two sections: Copyleft, featuring music from unsigned artists, and Copyright, which will offer current hits and back catalogue material starting at £0.25 (US$0.44) per track. Copyleft is in development now.

"EasyMusic will offer free or best value music downloads to consumers in all countries" said easyGroup chairman Stelios Haji-Ioannou, "EasyMusic's agreement with Wippit means that easyMusic.com will cater to an even greater range of consumers' musical tastes."
