Nokia's new headset lets you wear a picture

Is it a headset, or is it a necklace?

Nokia's latest Bluetooth phone headset, the HS-13W Wireless Image Headset, aims to transform a cell-phone accessory into a piece of high-tech jewelry.

Measuring 62.x45.3x15.4mm, the 57g Wireless Image Headset is carried on a strap and is meant to be worn around the neck as a pendant. This allows a user to show off the headset's coolest feature: a 128x128 pixel colour screen with a backlight that can display an image or a text message.

Images can be displayed as a single image or as a slideshow.

Users can load images and text to the Wireless Image Headset from either a Nokia cell phone or a PC using a Bluetooth connection. The headset has a maximum capacity of 500KB.

The headset, which is powered by a rechargeable battery, also has a five-way joystick that allows a user to answer and end calls, check the headset's phone book, or activate its voice dialling function.

The Wireless Image Headset will be available worldwide later this year, according to Nokia. Pricing was not immediately available.
