Internet set to take over PC sales

PC Advisor visitors vote with their feet

More than one out of three visitors to the PC Advisor web site will buy their next PC online.

Nearly 40% of respondents to our interactive poll confirmed that their next PC purchase would be made via the Internet, while a mere 8.7% said they would be placing their order over the phone.

The figures are in line with sales trends reported by the leading direct PC manufacturers. Dell, for example, claims that half its sales come via the Internet, totalling £33 million per day.

The high street also got a good showing, with a third of all respondents indicating they would prefer to take their shiny new systems home on the day of purchase.
