Another record quarter predicted for Apple

4.63 million Macs and 12 million iPads sold fiscal Q4, Needham Research believes

Apple is predicted to sell 4.63 million Macs and 12 million iPads in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011.

Analyst Charlie Wolf of Needham Research made the predictions in a note to investors this week, reports Apple Insider. If correct, fiscal Q4 will see record Mac and iPad sales.

Previously, the record for Mac sales was 4.1 million, which it did in the quarter leading up to Christmas 2010, and 9.25 million iPads were sold last quarter.

Of the 12 million iPads Wolf reckons Apple will sell in fiscal Q4, 9 million will make it into the hands of end users, leaving around four weeks' worth of stock in the channel.

As for the iPhone, Wolf reckons Apple will shift around 17 million units, down from 20.3 million in the last quarter. This is because many consumers are waiting for a next-generation iPhone, which is due to be announced next Tuesday.
