Despite stating that it's getting out of the PC business, HP has today announced two new desktop computers that are set to go onsale next month. The HP Pavilion HPE Phoenix is its most powerful Windows consumer PC to date, offering 16GB of DDR3 RAM. It is aimed at users who want to create digital content and are likely to need the processing power that video-editing and high-end photo-editing tasks demand. It will also come with a powerful graphics card suitable for use with 3D games.

The HP Pavilion HPE Phoenix will come with very few preinstalled apps other than Windows itself, allowing the user to choose what they would like its processor cycles and hard disk storage to be devoted to. The Phoenix will go onsale in the UK in early October and will cost £949.
The HP TouchSmart 520, meanwhile, is firmly aimed at home users and is a slimline all-in-one PC disguised as a 23in touchscreen display. HP says the TouchSmart 520 will offer a "premium multimedia and touch experience". The Windows 7 Home Premium-based PC is primarily intended for touchscreen control, but also comes with a wireless mouse. This can be hidden from view behind the stand when not in use.
As with previous TouchSmart models, the 520 comes with HP's Magic Canvas for posting notes and photos on a virtual noticeboard. A feature known as UpLink allows a notebook’s contents to be displayed on the TouchSmart, while 802.11g and n and Bluetooth wireless connectivity can also be used other .
Announcing the new TouchSmart and stripped-back HP Pavilion HPE Phoenix desktop PC, Charl Snyman, VP and general manager for HP’s personal systems group in EMEA said: "HP is bolstering its market leadership with new strategic portfolio enhancements including the stylish all-in-one HP TouchSmart 520 and incredibly powerful HP Pavilion HPE Phoenix".
