Apple updates iBooks

900MHz processors, more storage and better graphics for Mac notebooks

Apple has updated its entry-level notebook computer, the iBook, today adding faster processors and enhanced graphics.

All but the bottom-of-the-range 12.1in model will receive a 900MHz G3 processor. But even the basic model boasts some improvements — its 800MHz G3 processor is now twinned with a 32MB ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 graphics card, where previously it had just 16MB of video memory. This brings it in line with the rest of the iBooks. The hard drive has also been upped by 10GB to 30GB.

Next up is the 12.1in combo model. With its 900MHz G3 processor and DVD/CD-RW drive, this has also gained an extra 10GB of storage, pushing it up to 40GB.

Heading the range is the 14.1in iBook, which has a new 900MHz G3 chip and a 60GB hard drive.

Prices remain the same, starting at £680 (ex VAT). For more pricing information visit the Apple Store online.
