Faster connectivity from CTX

USB 2.0 added to latest flat-panel display

Flat-screen specialist CTX today launched its largest ever LCD (liquid crystal display) screen. The 19in P922E provides enhanced viewing angles, a higher 500:1contrast ratio and a faster response time than 17in models, but it is the CTX's USB 2.0 connectivity which makes it stand out from the crowd.

"USB 2.0 is the connection for the future. This year it will become standard and the significant performance benefits it offers convinced [us] to be the first monitor manufacturer to offer this on their 19in LCD screen," said Jordan Popov, European marketing manager at CTX.

Over the last six months USB 2.0 ports have been installed on many devices providing connection speeds of 480Mbps (megabits per second), 40 times faster than USB 1.1. This makes the standard suitable for speed-hungry devices and applications such as broadband modems and digital cameras.

USB was originally developed by Microsoft, Intel and IBM, among others, to replace the parallel port connection and offer plug and play convenience.

USB 2.0 supports existing 1.1 connections, though devices will only be able to communicate at 1.1's lower speed.
