Hands off Napster

PC Advisor visitors back MP3 music distributor

More than three quarters of PC Advisor visitors are firmly against legal efforts to have MP3 music distributor Napster shut down.

In the past week more than 650 visitors have exercised their spleen-venting rights by taking part in our interactive poll (at the bottom of this home page).

Less than a quarter (23.2%) agreed with the statement that “Napster should be shut down because of making copyrighted music freely available via the Web is wrong.”

On Saturday Napster won a last minute reprieve by securing an injunction. A full appeal is due to be heard 18 August.

We ran our poll hot on the heels of last week’s court order that Napster must halt its practices of helping consumers share copyrighted music that they have not paid for.
