Microsoft sets pricing for Windows Me

Promo period for Windows 98 users

Users of Windows 98 and Windows 98 Second Edition looking to upgrade to Windows Me will be offered an introductory special offer price of £39.99, which will run until the end of the year.

To upgrade from Windows 95 will cost £79.99 and the full product will be priced at £149.99 when it hits the shelves 14 September.

Aimed primarily at home users, Windows Me will feature improvements over the current Windows 98 operating system in areas including PC maintenance, digital media, home networking and Internet access.

Leading PC manufacturers are expected to run lower-cost or free upgrade schemes for customers who purchase machines in the last few weeks before Me’s launch.
