Another player enters the self-install broadband fray

ISP Tiscali today launched its plug-and-play broadband internet service.

Priced at £27.99 a month, the service is self-install — a modem is supplied and users simply plug and go.

Although the service is at the top end of the scale price-wise, working out to around £350 a year, its setup costs are far cheaper at just £99.99 for the installation kit. Although compared to PlusNet's service, launched yesterday and offering a similar starter pack, the monthly cost is rather steep.

The installation kit will contain everything the user needs to get started including a broadband modem, phone extension cable, CD containing modem drivers and setup guide.
