Matrox launches Parhelia graphics boards

First cards in the shops in the next few weeks

Matrox
has launched its first Parhelia 512-based graphics card.

The Parhelia-512 GPU was announced in May and offers new features: including a 256bit DDR memory interface; partial compatibility with Microsoft's forthcoming DirectX 9 and support for up to three displays.

Matrox says that these are the first 4x AGP devices capable of driving 3D across screens. This not only aids productivity, it also supports three-display game play.

All boards will come with DVI, RGB and TV out ports.

The first board to market will come with 128MB of 256bit DDR RAM, and will be out in the next few weeks, priced £279. Both 64MB and 256MB versions are due out later this summer, but pricing for these models has yet to be announced.
