iPaq gets a bright friend

Compaq turns light on new iPaq portable projector

Compaq turned the spotlight on its new portable projector yesterday, saying it's the brightest of its kind in the industry, delivering more than 2,000 lumens.

The Compaq iPaq Microportable Projector MP4800 weighs just 2.72kg and offers integrated audio, video and stereo sound, plus high-definition TV support.

Through something called Digital Light Processing (technology developed by Texas Instruments), the projector delivers XGA-resolution images (1,024x768), Compaq said.

Additionally, the projector is adaptable and can be used on a desktop or mounted on a tripod or boardroom ceiling. The unit is 'ultra-quiet', says Compaq, which claims an operating noise level less than 36 decibels.

The MP4800 starts at around £3,170 ex VAT.
