Evesham dumps stock online

Pre-Xmas clearance sales goes live

As Evesham engineers battle against a backlog of orders, the Worcestershire-based box shifter is hoping to raise some Christmas cheer by jettisoning its aging stock in a clearance sale.

Getting its pre-emptive strike in first, Evesham is hoping to jump the New Year's sales gun offering online cut-price deals at www.evesham.com/clearance.

Kicking off the festivities is a system for £320. Yes, that’s £320. Oh the downside? Hang on, let’s have a look at the release…

Ahhhh. It’s got an Intel Celeron processor (doesn’t say which one), it has 64MB SDRAM, a 10GB Ultra-ATA hard disk (quick call the Natural History Museum) and there’s no monitor or CD-ROM drive.

On the plus side, it does come with a two-year onsite warranty — as do all the clearance products — which means if the system overexerts itself during a demanding game of Pong, at least you should have some recourse.

What else have they got? Well at the other end of the spectrum there’s a PC powered by an 1.4GHz AMD Athlon paired with 256MB DDR (double data rate) RAM and a Matrox Millennium G450 dual-head 32MB video card.

The downside? That’ll be £1,350 please.

It’s been a rough couple of months for Evesham, which underestimated demand for its flagship PCs, leading the company to quote up to 28 days for delivery.
