Dell has become the latest major computer vendor to announce the establishment of a wireless business unit, aimed at tapping into the emerging global market for wireless network access.
The new Dell unit will be headed by 46-year-old Moe Grzelakowski, a former Motorola executive who next month will join the company as senior vice president, wireless, the Round Rock, Texas-based direct PC vendor said in a statement.
Grzelakowski, who most recently served as senior vice president and general manager of strategic marketing for Motorola's Network Solutions Sector, will be responsible for advancing Dell's wireless strategy and forge strategic alliances with wireless hardware and service providers.
At Dell, she will report to the office of the chief executive officer.
Noting that traditional mobile computing no longer is sufficient for many of the company's customers, Dell said that wireless Internet access is expected to represent a £10 billion market by 2003.
