Big marketing challenge ahead for mobile networks
The marketing departments for the major mobile networks have certainly got their work cut out if the results of our latest website poll are to be believed.
In fact, most pollsters - some 59.7 percent - don’t even know what GPRS is.
Of the 648 respondents to the poll only 6.5 percent considered it a major boon while nearly a quarter (23.1 percent) believe it to be too expensive.
A spokesman for Orange appeared unperturbed by the figures. He said the company would be stressing applications like the ability to buy a can of Coke from a drinks dispenser using a mobile phone, rather than the technology behind it.
