Asus has confirmed that the desktop version of its popular Eee PC mini laptop – called the Eee Box – will be available in the UK in September for £199.
Announced in June, the Eee Box is based on Intel's 1.6GHz Atom processor and requires 90 percent less power than a conventional desktop, according to Asus.
It includes 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive, together with an SD/MMC/MS card reader and support for 802.11n wireless.
Described by Asus as being as "slim as a paperback novel", the Eee Box doesn't come with a screen, keyboard or other peripherals, but it supports the Vesa standard for attachment to the back of an LCD monitor.
