Sony launch camera with built-in CD-R

Mavica ramps up storage capacity

Sony has announced details of an innovative addition to its Mavica range.

The product line in the past used a built in floppy drive to store pictures. The MVC-CD1000 instead uses 3.5in CD-R disks that can store up to 156MB of information.

The disks are also a lot cheaper than Compact Flash or Smart Media and are expected to retail for only a few pounds each.

The camera has a 2.1 MegaPixel lense and an impressive 10x optical zoom. The MVC-CD1000 is expected to launch in August in UK and will retail for around £1000.
