Asus announces Eee Box desktop PC

Desktop Eee PC 'available in August'

Asus has announced details of its Eee Box, the desktop version of its hugely successful Eee PC mini laptop.

Just the like the mini laptop, the Eee Box will feature the Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor. The desktop PC will have 1GB of DDR2 RAM and an 80GB hard disk. Details of the full specification are still rather vague, but the Eee Box, which will run Windows XP, also benefits from an ethernet connection and Wi-Fi capabilities.

Described by Asus as being as "slim as a paperback novel", the Eee Box doesn't come with a screen, keyboard or other peripherals and, while the cost hasn't been released yet, it's expected that the lack of extras will see it retail for a lower price than the original £220 inc VAT Eee PC. The Eee Box will be available in the UK in August this year.
