Dell Alienware M17x is 'fastest ever' gaming laptop

17in laptop runs quad-core Intel Core 2 Extreme chip

Dell has unveiled the latest machine in its Alienware gaming range. The M17x is described by Dell as "the most powerful 17in gaming laptop in the universe" and sports an Intel Core 2 Extreme quad-core processor.

The anodised aluminium casing, which can be customised with various colours, also houses up to two 1GB nVidia GTX 280M graphics processing units and 8GB of RAM.

Customers have the option to chose between a 1TB hard disk drive or a 512GB solid state drive (SSD), while wireless connectivity and a specially designed illuminated Alienware keyboard comes as standard with the Windows Vista machine.

"The Alienware M17x is a gamer's dream and sets the universal standard for 17in laptops that enthusiasts worldwide will love," said Michael Tatelman, vice president of sales and marketing for Dell's consumer business.

"M17x sets a new benchmark for combining out-of-this-world performance with the award-winning industrial design our customers have come to expect," added Arthur Lewis from Dell Gaming.
