Game yourself stupid

Telewest and Sony show broadband gaming future

Telewest has become the first cable firm to agree to provide electronics giant Sony with European broadband connections for its PlayStation 2 console.

Trials will take place during 2001, but success will depend on how quickly home users take up broadband. This is a sore point with UK surfers as well as providers, especially BT. Pricing has not yet been discussed between the parties.

The collaboration between Sony and Telewest will enable users to play games and content via broadband connections on Playstation 2s.

"We are impressed with Playstation's top quality content and technical capability," said David Docherty, managing director of Telewest broadband communications.
