John Lewis Broadband free with tech purchases

Six months of free John Lewis Broadband with tablets, laptops and TVs

John Lewis has announced that it will give away free broadband with in-store technology purchases such as tablets.

The firm launched its own broadband internet service a year ago and is now making a charge against the big guns like BT, Sky and TalkTalk. John Lewis is offering anyone who buys an internet connected device 6 months of free broadband. See alsoJohn Lewis launches broadband service.

This could be anything from a laptop to a printer to a Smart TV with built in Wi-Fi. John Lewis says it sells five tablets every minute and 80 percent of its technology products are 'internet ready'.

John Lewis also said that selling smartphones is something that's "definitely on the radar".

Adam Brown, tablets and telecoms buyer at John Lewis, said: "Whether a customer comes in store to buy a Kindle or a Smart TV, they can now enjoy our broadband service for free for six months, without any hidden charges or difficult to understand terms and conditions."

Customers who take up the offer will need to sign up to a 12 month contract and choose from John Lewis' three broadband packages. These start at £11 per month with £13.50 line rental and a 20GB download limit. Unlimited and fibre options are available at £18 and £25 per month respectively plus line rental.

"We’re the only place on the high street that customers can come to for quality, impartial advice on both their new technology product and the broadband service so we’re offering something that is unique in the market." added Brown.

The firm won 'best for for technical support’ and ‘best for speed’ in the Which? Broadband Customer Satisfaction survey.
