Plusnet boosts fibre optic broadband speeds

Plusnet matches BT Infinity 2 download speeds

Plusnet has announced it is expanding its fibre optic broadband offering with faster speeds and a new package.

The internet service provider (ISP) has launched a reworked Extra Fibre package which touts speeds of up to 76Mbps for £19 per month. Plusnet has also increased upload speeds for all its fibre optic users to 19.5Mbps. Visit our Broadband Advisor.

The new faster download and upload speeds match that of BT's Infinity 2. BT doubled the speed to 76Mbps in April this year. Virgin Media remains the ISP with the fastest UK broadband package at 120Mbps.

Jamie Ford, CEO of Plusnet said: "Customers’ internet habits have changed considerably over the last 12 months. People are using more bandwidth and services that demand faster speeds.  Our new fibre products not only meet this demand but do so at a compelling price."

"The new fibre product has been making real lifestyle changes too.  One-quarter of our trialists said they work from home more and close to two-fifths say they now use internet-enabled devices as a means to entertain guests to their home."

The new look Extra Fibre package more than doubles the data allowance from 120GB to 250GB and reduces the cost by £1.48 per month.

Existing Plusnet Extra Fibre customers can upgrade to gain the faster speeds and extra data allowance via their online account or by calling 0800 432 0200.
