The Cloud brings Wi-Fi to Greene King pubs

Extends Wi-Fi network coverage due to demand

Greene King has struck a deal with The Cloud to bring Wi-Fi access to all of its pubs, restaurants and hotels.

The deal will see the firm's 2,400 locations fitted with Wi-Fi internet which will be free for customers to use on smartphones, tablets and laptops. The service will be available from the summer with no time constraints and a typical fair usage policy.

Peter Groves, group commercial director from Greene King said: "We’ve seen more and more people use WiFi in our pubs in the last 12 months and it is was clear to us that we needed to introduce it to all of our pubs, restaurants and hotels."

Greene King said that a huge increase in demand and a successful trial of Wi-Fi in 300 of its pubs lead it to take the plunge. The Cloud noted that 57 percent of people using Wi-Fi in Greene King venues were using iPhones with a further 22 percent on other smartphones.

Vince Russell, managing director of The Cloud, said: "We are delighted to extend our relationship with Greene King reinforcing our position as the provider of choice for fast, reliable WiFi access in the nation’s favourite pubs."

Sky broadband unlimited customers can use Wi-Fi in any Cloud venue with no download limits via the Sky Cloud Wi-Fi app. The deal adds to the 5,000 pubs already serviced by The Cloud, making it the largest provider of Wi-Fi to pubs in Britain.
