iPod internet plug-in announced

Jax also adds music-management features

Prosoft Engineering has unveiled Jax, a customisable iPod plug-in that adds music-management features and delivers internet content to the nano, mini and full-size versions of Apple's iPod music player.

Jax features configurable visualizers and the ability to manage lyrics and search libraries by specific phrases and words. It manages album art and enables users to research artists.

Jax can download information from the internet, such as point-to-point directions, current weather forecasts, stock quotes, cinema listings and local petrol prices. Likewise, it can load news feeds, emails and documents, as well as QuickTime movies or video from YouTube or Google Video.

Jax will be available in early February. Prosoft hasn't set a price yet.
