CES: World first for projector with iPod dock

ViewSonic connects iPod to the big screen

The new PJ258 projector, announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), comes hot on the heels of ViewSonic’s VX1945wm flat panel monitor, which also includes an iPod dock and was released in the UK late last year.

The PJ258D is designed to enable iPod owners to view media clips from their portable player on the big screen, while eliminating the need for a computer.

The unit, which weighs 1.8kg, is also designed to charge the iPod’s battery while it sits in the dock. It has multiple connectivity options, including S-Video and VGA, and supports 1027x768 resolution, 2000:1 contrast ratio and 2000 ANSI lumen brightness.

Mel Taylor, vice president of marketing at ViewSonic, said that the device will meet “demands to continually redefine how people access, view and bond over sharing favourite content”.

The PJ258D will be available in the first quarter of 2007. The price of the device in the UK is yet to be confirmed.
