Sonos updates Controller app with iPad and iPhone streaming

Apple AirPlay style streaming comes to Sonos for iPad and iPhone users

Sonos Controller for Android and iOS

Sonos has updated its Controller app to allow music streaming straight from iOS devices including iPhone and iPad.

Version 3.8.3 of the Sonos Controller is now available to download for iOS and Androiddevices. It brings Apple AirPlay style wireless playback of iTunes music and podcasts direct from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to Sonos speakers like the Play:3 and Play:5.

Sonos said on its blog: "Music has never been more portable, or more available. Our favorite tracks and artists are rarely further away than our pocket. And the music we have in iTunes sometimes never leaves our iPhones, which is exactly why we’re stoked to share the latest update to the Sonos system."

Once the app is updated music, playlists and podcasts will show up in the main music menu as 'This iPhone', for example. You do need to have iOS 6 installed.

Although the latest version of the app is available for Android smartphones and tablets, it doesn't bring the same feature.
