Online radio services to surge in 2011

we7 also predicts mobile devices will become primiary way to access music online

Online radio service will continue to grow in popularity in 2011, predicts we7.

According to the music streaming service, online radio together with traditional radio will increase overall music listening hours dramatically. Furthermore, Steve Purdham, CEO of we7 believes mobile devices will become the primary way to access digital music overtaking tethered PCs.

Purdham also predicts music downloads, which have enjoyed steady growth, will begin to plateau in the UK, and increasingly be replaced by music streaming and subscription based services. Meanwhile, the music industry will increasingly look to streaming services as the potential solution to combat the problem of illegal downloading.

Finally, we7 also believes 2011 will be the year Apple launches a 'digital' locker service, that ensures web users can access all of their purchased downloads from any location/(Apple) device.

"This will quickly be followed up by an iTunes subscription service," predicts Purdham.
