Radiohead's back catalogue comes to iTunes

Six albums now available alongside current release

iTunes users are now able to download Radiohead's back catalogue.

The UK band's first six studio albums are available now alongside their latest album, 'In Rainbows', which has been available since January. EMI, the band's former record label is behind the decision, which leaves just The Beatles as the only major British act whose music is not available through the service.

Initially Radiohead refused to distribute its music through the service because it wanted fans to buy whole albums but Apple requires acts to offer fans the chance to purchase individual tracks, so instead Radiohead chose 7Digital as the portal to distribute its music.

"iTunes insists that all its albums are sold unbundled, but 7digital doesn't. Radiohead prefer to have their albums sold complete. The artist has a choice, and if they feel strongly then we respect that," EMI told PC Advisor's sister title Macworld at the time.

However, since leaving EMI and going it alone, the band has changed its opinion. In January its current album 'In Rainbows' became available for download from iTunes. Many of the tracks are also being made available in the DRM-free iTunes Plus format.

Country-artist Garth Brooks has also refused to join the iTunes revolution while rock act AC/DC has taken its material off iTunes in favour of an exclusive deal for full album downloads with US mobile phone operator Verizon.
