Spotify to offer unlimited downloads

£9.99 monthly subscription planned

Spotify plans to offer users the chance to download an unlimited number of tracks for a £9.99 monthly subscription.

The Sweden-based music streaming service lets users create a playlist of songs for free, but users must listen to adverts in between tracks, similar to commercial radio.

Last month, it announced a partnership with 7Digital that enabled users to navigate to 7Digital's site and download a 320kbps MP3 file of the track that was playing on Spotify.

However, under the new monthly subscription option, users will be able to download as many tracks as they want from 7Digital's six million-strong catalogue.

Spotify also said it is planning to launch a mobile service that will enable handset owners to download tracks and stream playlists using their phone.
