3.5in touchscreen iPods coming tomorrow?

New iPods to be unveiled at special Apple event

The iPod rumour mill is going into overdrive ahead of the 'special announcement' planned by Apple on Wednesday night. Macworld UK has put together a round-up of the most and least likely news at the event.

Larger iPod nanos, 3.5in touchscreen iPods featuring flash memory and Wi-Fi-equipped iPods are among the devices said to be ready to be unveiled, according to various online reports.

Some reports anticipate new iPod nanos which will be slightly larger than the previous generation, will exploit flash memory and will be able to play video through a larger colour screen.

DigiTimes claims the new iPod with video will also use flash memory and a higher storage capacity and suggested the iPod shuffle will also be re-vamped.

Meanwhile a Washington Post report claims Apple's retail channels have not received new stocks of iPods for the past few weeks - a strong sign that the company is trying to shift stock in hand to make way for new models.
