Apple iTunes reaches 3bn song downloads

New landmark for Apple's music service

Apple’s iTunes has reached a new milestone with the announcement that three billion songs have been purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Store. iTunes has a catalogue of over 5 million songs, 550 television shows and 550 movies.

The iTunes Store offers users the ability to purchase and download music through, and also offers games for fifth generation iPods.

Apple also uses the iTunes Store as a way of offering video content for users of Apple TV in the US, although iTunes movies aren't expected in the UK until later this year.
