Google Street View now available on iPhone 5 and iOS 6

Google has made Street View available for iOS Safari web browsers

It's no secret that Apple has been having a rubbish time with its maps. The vast majority of iOS 6 and iPhone 5 users are not impressed with the new maps compared to Google's maps in iOS 5.

The problem has become so big that Apple's Tim Cook has even apologised to Apple iPhone 5 owners about the issue and said people should 'avoid iOS Maps, use Bing or Google'. Although it was possible for anyone running iOS 6 to use the Google Maps web app, there was no access to Street View. So the news that Google has made Street View available in iOS 6 will be welcome map-related news.

Google has made the Street View features available via the Safari web browser. All iPhone 5 and iOS 6 users have to do to access the feature is type in the address maps.google.co.uk in Safari, tap to drop a pushpin marker, and then click on the familiar Street View icon which pops up an the bottom right of the screen. A new Safari window will then open with most Street View features enabled, including arrow navigation and additional zooming.

We have already shown you How to get Google Maps back in iOS 6, and adding Street View as an home screen icon can be achieved in the same way.
