iPhone 5 USB cable further suggests mini docking connector

Leaked image shows iPhone 5 USB cable with new port

Apple's upcoming iPhone 5 USB cable has been leaked online confirming the smartphone will use a smaller docking connector.

The image, flagged up to iLounge by Veister, shows a USB cable for the next generation iPhone. It is the traditional white colour with a full size USB port on one end and the male part of Apple's new mini docking connector on the other.

iLounge said: "Veister is a Shenzhen, China-based accessory vendor, but the cable has yet to appear on the company’s site. It is unclear whether the part shown is a replacement cable or a genuine Apple part with pre-production markings."

The image is further evidence to suggest Apple will ditch its traditional 30-pin dock connector for a smaller one – supposedly using just eight pins.

The rumour mill suggests the iPhone 5 will be announced on 12 September along with an iPad Mini. If this is the case then we don't have long to wait to find out what Apple has up its sleeve.
