New OS is an instant hit with Mac users
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is an operating system that takes a major step towards integration with iOS mobile devices, the cloud and social networks. Costing just £13.99 as an upgrade from the Mac App store, users can now experience an operating system that according to Apple makes 'the Mac, iPad and iPhone work even better together'.
The new OS comes with over 200 new features from the previous version, OS X 10.7 Lion. The main features of Mountain Lion are greater integration with iCloud, Social and Messaging to other Mountain Lion Macs and iOS devices. OS X 10.8 also includes a new Siri-style talk and type feature called Dictation. Mountain Lion also offers Airplay Mirroring with connected Apple TV devices as well as a new Notification and Game centre. See Mountain Lion: What you need to know to find out more.
"Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever," said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
Interestingly, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, has to a lesser degree adopted the same vision as Microsoft's much anticipated Windows 8 operating system, a platform that is set work across desktop pcs, laptops, tablets and smartphones. See Microsoft Windows 8 review.
