Apple releases bug fixing iOS 5.1.1

Fixes issues but adds no new features

Apple has released version 5.1.1 of iOS for iPhone, iPad and iPod.

The software update doesn’t bring any new features but a number of bug fixes and various improvements in the mobile operating system.

According to Apple, iOS 5.1.1 fixes bugs affecting video playback via its AirPlay streaming and improves the reliability of taking HDR photos from the lock screen. Another improvement is related to Safari and brings better reliability to bookmarks and the Reading List.

Specifically for the iPad it squashes bugs that could stop the tablet switching between 2G and 3G mobile networks. It also fixes a problem with the App Store which displayed an ‘Unable to purchase’ alert.

You can install the update directly from your iOS device by opening Settings, tapping General, and then tapping Software Update - simple. As far as we know, iOS 6 is set for a June unveiling at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
