Report: Apple to launch new iMacs this week

iMacs to get faster processors & Penryn chip

Apple will launch new iMacs this week, according to various reports based on a story on the Geek Sugar website.

The report, which cites unnamed sources, further explains that the iMacs will receive a processor speed increase (and Penryn chip) alongside larger hard drives, though the August 2007-introduced aluminium design will not be changed, with prices remaining at the same points as before.

That Apple is plotting to introduce new models of its all-in-one desktop Mac isn't unexpected, with reports that stock in hand of the existing configurations is dwindling emanating earlier this month. These reports lend the current spate of rumours a little added weight.

The Mac mini may also see an upgrade, some reports claim.
