MacBook tablet coming to the UK

Modbook turns Apple laptop into tablet PC

Axiotron's Modbook, described as "the one and only tablet Mac", is coming to the UK via retailer Computer Warehouse.

The Modbook is an Apple MacBook that has been converted to work as a tablet computer. It allows users to draw, sketch and write directly on the screen, cleverly combining Apple's laptop with an industry standard Wacom graphics tablet

Computer Warehouse will be doing the conversion work themselves via their own service division, supplying the units with a full one-year warranty.

However the Axiotron Modservice, which converts an existing MacBook into a Modbook, won't be offered by Computer Warehouse until the UK market has developed.

"We will not be offering the Modservice initially although this will remain under review as we develop the market for this unique product. Interest from our Pro customers has been high and we see this as a great opportunity to make the market as CW has done so often in the past," said CW.

The Modbook will have a SRP of £1,649 inc VAT. The US price is a comparable $2,249, (equivalent to £1,601.39 before sales tax).
