Steve Jobs mystery illness causing weight loss

CEO to remain despite hormone imbalance

After months of speculation Apple CEO Steve Jobs has confirmed he has a hormone imbalance that is causing him to lose weight.

In a statement issued today, Jobs admitted he has been ill for a number of months.

"As many of you know, I have been losing weight throughout 2008. My doctors think they have found the cause - a hormone imbalance that has been 'robbing' me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy."

However, despite his illness, Jobs has confirmed he will remain as CEO of the tech company. Apple's Board of Directors said Jobs has their "complete and unwavering support".

A statement from Apple's board was posted on the company site reiterating a previous statement: "if there ever comes a day when Steve wants to retire or for other reasons cannot continue to fulfill his duties as Apple's CEO, we will let you know".
