Boot Camp 1.4 boosts Windows support on Macs

Apple's newest Boot Camp beta now available

Apple has released a new version of its Boot Camp software which allows Intel-based Mac users to install the Windows XP or Windows Vista (32bit) alongside Mac OS X operating systems.

Boot Camp (beta) 1.4 offers several new features and improvements, including support for keyboard backlighting on the MacBook Pro.

Additional features include: Apple Remote pairing; Updated graphics drivers; Improved Boot Camp driver installer; Improved international keyboard support. Localization fixes and updated Windows Help for Boot Camp.

The software is a 347MB download.

Apple will ship the final version of Boot Camp in October when it releases Mac OS X 10.5 'Leopard', which will contain Boot Camp as a standard feature. The company will also make available a standalone version of Boot Camp for Mac OS X 10.4.
