LG has launched 3D World, an internet connected service dedicated to 3D content.
Pushes 3D content to its Cinema Smart TVs
The 'premium content service' follows on from LG's 3D Zone app for its smart TVs which it launched last year. The firm said 3D World is available to its 3D Cinema Smart TV users in more than 70 countries.
Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment said: "3D World is a critical part of LG’s long-term strategy which includes controlling more of the 3D ecosystem that CINEMA 3D owners experience."
"With the global roll-out of 3D World, LG is demonstrating its commitment to providing diverse, high quality 3D content."
The idea of 3D World is to allow users easy access to a wide range of 3D content through their Smart TV. LG said the service covers categories including entertainment, sports, documentary, kids and lifestyle.
3D World is available for LG's 2011 range of 3D TV's as a downloadable app while it's 2012 line-up will access the service via a 'card' on the Home Dashboard.
LG is hoping to get more 3D content providers on-board with the service to offer "the most sought after 3D content to LG customers."
