Majority of US consumers prefer 3DTV

More than a third believes it brings broadcasts alive

The majority of consumers believe 3DTV is better than standard HDTV, says Panasonic.

According to research of US residents by Frank N. Magid Associates on behalf of the consumer electronics giant during Disney's D23 Expo, 99 percent surveyed 3DTV was "somewhat better" than standard HDTV (nicknamed 2DTV in the survey) while 71 percent believe it's "much better" or "dramatically better".

Half of US consumers surveyed wished they had 3DTV in their home, while over a third said it 'brings things alive in a way I've never seen before.'

'We've always said that, just as with HDTV, once consumers experience 3D TV, they will want it,' said Eisuke Tsuyuzaki, Panasonic Corporation of North America's chief technology officer.

Mike Vorhaus, president of Magid Advisors added that consumers clearly like what they see.

'Their feelings are very reminiscent of the public's response to HDTV in its early days.'
