Video: Video: Panasonic launches 3D camcorders, announces 3D partnerships

Panasonic debuted a new 3D camcorder at the IFA consumer electronics show this week. The HDC-z-ten thousand has a 6 and a half megapixel sensor and can shoot 1080p HD video. It also has two new image stabilization systems, which according to Panasonic makes it easier to shoot in low light.
Video: Video: Sony Personal 3D viewer in action

Sony is offering an alternative for consumers who don’t want to buy a 3D TV. Called the personal 3D viewer the head mounted display will be available by the end of the year though pricing wasn’t announced. It can be connected to a 3D camcorder for a live view of what’s being shot or used for movies and gaming, said Howard Stringer during the company’s press conference. The viewer also has headphones to deliver audio. While the 3D viewer may be isolating—it’s not like you can enjoy this with a friend—the experience is pretty unique. We had a chance to try the personal 3D viewer being filmed here on a 3D camera and the effect is actually pretty good. The picture is clear and bright and after taking some time to focus it it’s a really enjoyable experience and Sony said that once this comes on the market there’s going to be headband to secure this to your head so that you don’t have to hold it.
News: LG dumps active shutter 3D glasses

LG is abandoning active shutter glasses for use with 3D screens, citing an overwhelming preference for the cheaper-to-produce passive glasses. An overwhleming 88 percent of it 3D LED TV sales are of models that use passive shutter technology. The company has seen a two-fold uptake in demand for its LED 3D TVs that come with passive glasses, LG told PC Advisor at IFA today.

News: Sony Bloggie 3D MHS-FS3 camcorder hits UK

Sony has been showing off the Bloggie 3D MHS-FS3 camcorder ahead of its imminent retail launch in the UK. Footage can be shot at 1920x1080p Full HD resolution and displayed on any 3D TV. The Bloggie 3D is one of the first consumer 3D camcorders to launch in the UK.
