Alcatel OneTouch Watch specification: What to expect from the Alcatel OneTouch Watch

Alcatel's OneTouch Watch stands out in a sea of smartwatches not only for being compatible with both Android and iOS (Android 4.3+/iOS 7+), but for its sub-£100 price tag. And yet, it's still a very nicely designed wearable. And it's recently been honored with an iF Design Award by the iF International Forum Design GmbH.

The Alcatel OneTouch Watch is a round-faced smartwatch much like the Motorola Moto 360. It has a 1.22in display that measures 41.8x10.5mm. The strap is 3.5mm thick and 20mm wide.

Despite the low price, Alcatel hasn't scrimped on features. There''s a heart-rate monitor built into the rear, along with an accelerometer, gyroscope, e-compass, altimeter and NFC. You can use it to track activity, calories burned and sleep, and when connected to a smartphone it can alert you to incoming calls and notifications.

Other features when connected to a phone include its ability to trigger the phone's camera to take a photo and control music. If you lose your phone you can use the watch to make it ring, but it will also vibrate if you walk away and leave your phone behind so hopefully you won't lose it in the first place.

Alcatel's OneTouch Watch operates over Bluetooth 4.0, and is both dust- and water-resistant (IP67 certified). With a 210mAh battery inside it should last between two- and five days before needing a recharge, depending on your usage, and it takes only around an hour to refill the battery.
