Galaxy View UK release date, price: When is the Galaxy View coming out? How much is the Samsung Galaxy View?

Samsung has not revealed the UK pricing or release date for the Galaxy View. According to the Verge, in the US it will cost $599 and launch 6 November. We will update this article as soon as that information is provided, which we would expect to be within the next few days.

Galaxy View specifications & features: What to expect from the Galaxy View

First teased during its Gear S2 announcement at IFA, the Galaxy View is a large-screen Android 5.1 Lollipop tablet - huge infact, with a 18.4in screen, and dimensions measuring 17.79x10.86x0.47in. This is a full-HD touchscreen display, with the interface, powerful stereo speakers and battery primed for media consumption.

"The dedicated home screen for videos showcases various content services all in one place, making it easy and convenient for people to enjoy the latest entertainment," says Samsung. And the Galaxy View's 5,700mAh battery should offer a full 8 hours of video playback.

A 2.1Mp front-facing webcam lets the Galaxy View record full-HD footage. It can also stream video at full-HD 1080p, and play back audio formats including MP3, M4A, 3GA, AAC, OGG, OGA, WAV, WMA, AMR, AWB, FLAC, MID, MIDI and XMF.

Google apps preinstalled on the Samsung mega-tablet include Chrome, Gmail, Google Search, Maps, YouTube, Hangouts, Play Store, Play Movies & TV, Play Music, Drive and Photos. Of course, you can also use this tablet as you would any other Android tablet, downloading the apps and games you choose.

(You might not carry it in the same way, however, given its size. Fortunately Samsung has designed the Galaxy View with a carry handle and two-way stand to ease moving it from room to room.)

But while it's well-suited to entertainment, the Galaxy View isn't expected to be a high-performance tablet. There's a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, combined with 2GB of RAM. MicroSD support up to 128GB lets you bolster the 32GB of built-in storage.

The Galaxy View supports dual-band 802.11ac wireless, VHT80, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and GLONASS. LTE connectivity is optional.
