nVidia Shield 2 Tablet UK release date: When is the new nVidia Shield coming out?

The original Shield went on sale on 14 August 2014, which means we'll likely see its successor around the same time this year. We'll update this article as soon as we know. Also see: Best tablets 2015.

nVidia Shield 2 Tablet UK price: How much will the new nVidia Shield tablet cost?

The original nVidia Shield costs from £239 for the 16GB Wi-Fi-only version, or £299 for the 4G + Wi-Fi version at Amazon. These prices have not come down from the original RRP, although we will likely see them fall when the nVidia Shield 2 Tablet is released. The nVidia Shield 2 Tablet itself is likely to go on sale at the same price or a fraction higher.

nVidia Shield 2 Tablet specs: What to expect from the new nVidia Shield tablet

Although no specs have been confirmed for the new nVidia Shield gaming tablet, we expect it to come with the new nVidia Tegra X1 processor, which is expected to be twice as fast as the K1 seen in the original Shield. It's a 64-bit octa-core chip, on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and Apple A8X. Also see: Best Android tablets 2015.

Earlier this month the Tegra X1 was also seen in the new nVidia Shield Android TV console.

The nVidia Shield focuses on PC- rather than Android games, although it has a huge library for the latter. It can wirelessly stream games from a GeForce-equipped gaming PC (also see: Best gaming PCs 2015) and 1080/60Hz to any HDMI TV.

We'll update this article with more details as they emerge.
