LG has announced it will take another stab at the tablet market with the G Pad 8.3.

The G Pad 8.3 tablet is an addition to the 'premium' G Series which started with the recently unveiled LG G2 smartphone. The firm's new tablet will take on the iPad mini (and upcoming iPad mini 2) and the Nexus 7, plus many others.

"Complementing our G Series smartphones, the introduction of the LG G Pad 8.3 further strengthens LG's premium lineup consisting of our most cutting-edge devices," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Mobile. "Our G Pad is just another example of LG delivering devices with the unique selling points consumers around the world will appreciate."

As the name suggests, the G Pad 8.3 has an 8.3 in screen and is set to be the first Full HD 8 in tablet with its 1920 x 1200 resolution matching the Nexus 7 2013. It will run on a 1.7 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Processor with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

The Korean electronics giant said the slim tablet – 8.3 mm – contains a 4600 mAh battery for long-lasting usage time although no time has been touted. The G Pad 8.3 features a 5 Mp rear camera and 1.3 Mp front webcam.

Like the G2 smartphone, the G Pad 8.3 comes pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and LG's  user experience features such as 'Slide Aside' for multitasking, 'QSlide'  which controls up to three different apps in one window and 'KnockON' allowing the screen to be switched on with a double tap.

LG said the 'unique' QPair app will allow users to manage calls and messages received on a smartphone via the G Pad 8.3 for a 'true convergence experience'.

There's no price or release date for the LG G Pad 8.3, but it will be on show at this year's IFA trade show in Berlin which kicks off later this week. We'll be there so keep an eye out for our coverage of all the hottest tablets, smartphones, smartwatches and whatever else we can get our hands on.
