Kobo said: "Designed for our most passionate Readers, the Kobo Aura HD delivers an E Ink experience people will crave – if they’re serious about books."
With a 6.8in Pearl E-Ink screen, the Kobo Aura HD has a larger display than most eReaders. The resolution is also higher than the competition at 1080 x 1440 resulting in a pixel density of 256ppi.
The screen also features 'ComfortLight' which allows users to read in the dark without an overhead light. It "directs light at the page, and not in your eyes". Kobo is calling it the best E-Ink screen on the market. See also Group test: what's the best eReader?
Storage is limited to 4GB, around 3,000 books, but if this isn't enough, a microSD card slot means it's easy to add up to 32GB more. Kobo claims that the Aura HD is 20 percent faster than other eReaders thanks to a 1GHz processor.
Wi-Fi comes built-in and Kobo says the Aura HD has a battery life of up to two months. Kobo has more than three million books, magazines and newspapers in its store. The firm provides free apps for PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
The Kobo Aura HD will be available in 'Ivory', 'Espresso', and 'Onyx' colours.
