LeapFrog LeapPad 2 Explorer video review

The LeapFrog LeapPad2 is a tablet PC for children, so we asked a child to test it. Watch our LeapPad2 Explorer video review to find out is this tablet is a hit with kids.

As the LeapPad2 is a tablet for children, we decided to put our best child reviewer on the case. She's six years of age, she knows exactly what she wants from a tablet, and she can tell the difference between the new iPad and its predecessor. More importantly, this LeapPad2 review will tell you everything you need to know about whether your children will like the LeapPad2 Explorer.

The LeapPad2 is no iPad, but that's a good thing for many reasons. The iPad is too big for smaller hands; the iPad links to the bad, mad world of the open internet; kids on iPads keep demanding new apps; iPads are expensive; iPads break easier when dropped; sometimes you want to use your own iPad, you know, yourself...

One of the great things about the LeapPad2 is its stylish design. While it's not monochrome cool like most tablets it isn't overly garish or kiddy – something we found with its rival the VTech InnoTab. To be fair, though, some kids prefer the chunkier, bright colours, and the more stylish LeapPad looks might not bother a child in search of some tech app fun.

Leapfrog also now sells a larger children's tablet, the LeapPad Ultra, alongside the LeapPad2. It has wi-fi and a child-safe web browser. We got Lexi, now 7, to make us a video review of that, too – with 5-year-old Sebastian along to help. Now watch Lexi's LeapPad Ultra review.
