TuneUp has launched an English version of its PC utilities software. TuneUp Utilities 2008 offers new features designed to improve the speed and functionality of Windows-based computers.
TuneUp Utilities 2008 features a new, streamlined user interface, which sees utility options grouped by task, offering users a menu they can understand without the need to learn industry jargon. A user can choose a category and the software will provide all the tools necessary to complete the specific task.
The TuneUp Drive Defrag is one of a number of new functions available on the software. The smart disk defragmenter speeds up various aspects of a PC including boot-up and shut-down times, program and file load times, and photo and music creation and editing. The Increase Performance toolset also includes utilities to increase browser and download speeds.
The software also allows users to quickly free up large amounts of space on their hard disk by identifying unneeded files such as temporary files, thumbnail images and Internet Explorer cache as well as by deactivating unused Windows functions that require substantial amounts of memory.
Other new functions include the 1-Click Maintenance feature that enables users to run a precompiled toolset to clean and improve a computer with a click of the mouse or at specific intervals defined by the user with no noticeable impact on system performance. Users will also benefit from tools for cleaning the registry, identifying and solving display problems, checking and correcting file system errors, searching and repairing faulty hard drive sectors to prevent data loss, and restoring deleted or lost files.
The software supports all versions of Windows 2000, XP and Vista. The full product is currently available in English, French and German with Dutch, Spanish and Italian versions to be released and can be downloaded for £29.99 from www.phoenixsoftwareuk.co.uk.
