Compro simplifies set up for IP cameras

Announces smartConnect technology

IP camera maker Compro has launched a technology it calls 'smartConnect', which it says 'literally eliminates' the networking setup required during the installation of IP cameras. The company claims that the previously fiendishly difficult process of setting up an IP camera will now take only eight steps, and be complete in just five minutes.

With smartConnect you use a single user ID and password to view and share multiple IP cameras via a web browser, IM client, iOS device or the social-networking site Facebook. This, Compro says, eliminates the complex networking and router issues that make IP cameras difficult for consumers to use, so you can focus on securing your home or office with an IP security camera.

Compro says smartConnect technology offers Plug-n-Play Functionality. Plug it in and you can instantly view and share your Compro IP camera from anywhere, and any time you are connected. The product also utilises Seedonk Instant Messenger: a camera viewing and managing tool with a feel similar to Skype and Windows Messenger. This lets you view and share cameras using Friends list, take snapshots, record live camera video, and chat with friends.

For mobile users there's an App for iPhone, iPad and Android. Using this free app you can sign in to Seedonk and see footage from all Compro IP cameras wherever you are. You can save camera snapshots and video on your smartphone, and speak live with monitored sites (allowing you to freak out the cat while you're away, for instance). You can also use Facebook to connect in this way.
